About Zhu Xiong: Zhu Xiong was only two years old when she was found in a small farming village in the Pingwu district of China. WWF staff moved her to the Wanglang reserve, the oldest and most remote reserve in China, where she joined 30 other pandas.

About giant pandas: Pandas are the rarest of all bears and their forest habitat is fast disappearing. Expansion of agricultural land, intensive harvesting of timber, use of wood for fuel and other forest products, and overgrazing cause forest loss. Each year an area of forest larger than the UK is lost - a rate of 30 hectares every minute.
